Children's Piano Pedagogy Program

This program offers a unique learning environment for beginner and elementary-level piano students through its combination of group classes and private lessons. In the weekly/bi-weekly group musicianship classes, children learn various musical concepts in a social setting:

  • Ear training
  • Singing
  • Solfege
  • Rhythm
  • Ensembles and duets
  • Performance
  • Technique
  • Theory
  • Improvisation

An individualized repertoire and technique curriculum will be designed for each child based on their specific level of development and interests.

The Children's Piano Pedagogy Program serves a dual purpose: in addition to creating a well-rounded musical experience for children, the program provides graduate students with the opportunity to teach both group and private lessons within a supervised setting.

Please contact Charles Lin at utppp.music@utoronto.ca to book an assessment interview for entry into the program starting in September.
