Our mission is to provide individualized guidance for graduate students interested in pursuing a career in this multi-faceted field.
The DMA in Piano Performance & Pedagogy at the University of Toronto is an advanced pre-professional degree that combines performance, applied teaching, and research in pedagogy and androgogy.
This program offers a unique learning environment for beginner and
intermediate-level piano students by providing a comprehensive music curriculum through a combination of
group instruction and traditional private lessons.
In this program, adults with a pianistic background have the opportunity to study privately with graduate performance and pedagogy majors. In addition, masterclasses (public performance classes which are coached) are arranged for the participants and will allow graduate students to gain further teaching experience in these public settings. This program runs for two cycles: from the first week of October for an 8-week period, and then again in January for another 8-week period, culminating in an informal recital.
